The invite contacts to join on social networking sites does help the
social network -- but more important is how much it can help you. For
example, on twitter when I invited my contacts I was surprised to see
how many were already on twitter, and I could connect with those people
right away. This made growing my network so much faster, I now have
thousands of followers on the various twitter accounts i have...
The
same is true on buzzherd... I'm surprised how many businesses bother to
make a nice herd on buzzherd, write a couple of blogs, but then forget
to import their contact list to get the ball rolling. Buzzherd is no
different than twitter. You need to spend time in order to get the
ball rolling and start seeing some results from social media
marketing.
Well first of all, we need to talk about why write blogs at all...
Here are some reasons buzzherd is all about the blogging:
1) You can find current and meaningful content reading blogs -- why not provide that for your user? 2) You build a 'herd' following by having great content -- content is king. 3) It's the 'skickiness' factor. We need people coming back to us before we can impact them. So we need content that is up to date and changing. 4) Great for search engines optimization. You should always take the chance to link to something or someone as well as people may be linking to you! 5) Become an expert in your field, dont know it -- show it. This is worth it's weight in gold if you can establish credibility and followers 6) Keeps your skills sharp -- I enjoy blogging because when I blog it reminds me that I do have things to share with the world and it gets me out of my head.
Now it's your turn. Comment here about what you get out of blogging...
Sure anyone can build a website now adays. This is why hiring the right web designer is more important than ever. Some interesting Facts about the internet:
Netcraft said there were 186,727,854 at the end of December 2008, which translates to an increase of 1.56 million sites in November 2008 and to an increase of 31.1 million over December 2007.
So that means, every day about 60,000 websites are created?! So the bottom line is -- what are you doing to stand out?
Before starting a large web marketing campaign I test my target audience. I test an ad, conversion of that ad and sales -- sometimes before I even have the product or service ready. What should be tested? Layouts, colors, designs, and most important -- Calls to action!
For example, while helping with SEO for a client we found that the words 'Learn more' converted at a much higher percent than 'Contact Us' Before investing tons of money in SEO and social media optimization, budget money on a great design -- and then tweaking the design using pay per click marketing. You can also begin the SEO process early as well -- because SEO is always building on itself. I believe in a phased approach:
1) Get a great design 2) Get feedback and test your design and calls to action using PPC 3) Start an agressive SEO campaign with a great SEO company 4) Make sure you have analytics installed -- every month make adjustments based on what's working!
